been a whole semester since i last posted oops. quickly,

moving out of the apartment, and back home, commuting is easier.
the whole roommate thing wasn't exactly how i expected it to work out (good/bad).
mica is amazing, i'm learning so much it's insane.
it's finals week right now, ugh. i only have one left though.
i've been really busy, really busy with alot of things.
there's some work above.

is so much closer, 5 more days. i'm so incredibly anxious, i can't wait. my one roomate tabitha is pretty awesome. we went to pre college together, but never got a chance to talk too much. well now she's a door down from me haha. i cannot wait, MICA is amazing and i just can't wait to get started. also, i've been working on a mural at my church for the past week. it's coming along well. it'll be done before i move out though.

I changed up the profile some, not the best layout in the world but i wanted something different. So i've been working through AP portfoilios and now trying to get all this scholarship business dealt with. Weekends seem to run at a routine lately; papermoon, band practice, IRP project, EPI project, AP portfolio work (painting&photographing). It'll be a while until that routine leaves i'm sure. It hasnt been hard to get motivated for the most part which is great. With 3 months to go, who wouldnt be ? I guess sometime soon i'll post up some picture updates on the portfolios. I'm very excited to be attending MICA in the fall, dropping of that housing deposit and tutiton check was like whoa. Just even being downtown around campus makes me excited and makes everything feel so real. As much as i want to get out of Parkville i have to say we have to have the best art department in Maryland. Seriously, i have no idea where i'd be in art right now without Talman, Hesser, 20 and McB. So there's definately gonna be some visiting from me next year haha.

In NAHS news we're having 'Studio Night' at school and a small critique in the begining. That should be fun. Also we're going to Philly ! I'm really stoked about Philly, there's going to be a William Kentridge show when we're there. I love his work :)

So friday night i hurt my knee, and ended up getting a chip
and a fracture in my bone right by the screw. On christmas eve
im having my surgery to get everything fixed. I'm kinda scared.
I really didn't want to go through this a third time.

SO it's been a while. i have some artwork to post up, and alot has been going on. My things for the youngARTs stuff has been turned in and my next surgery is comming up soon. The infamous DC trip for art is friday and i cant wait. AP photo is kinda starting slow but i've been jotting down ideas and i think i can pull through fine. AP studio is still hanging in strong and my concentration is developing well. i already have two new paintings i've got sketched out now all i need is canvas haha.

ill be posting some photos later on in the month

but for now its paintings/drawings time :)

AP studio is going great. i have lots of ideas and things are hitting off real good. senior year is crazy, there is so much going on ! all my art classes are going great, the others ones are okay but i look forward to art during my day. tomorrow i have a center stage field trip for english. volleyball was fun, well the team is doing amazing everyone is still getting along [well for now] and everyone is getting thier head in the game. unfortunately my season on the court is done for me. since i have ongoing knee problems, it's getting worse now then ever. so i'm told no volleyball until the surgery. which i am really super freaked about getting, but i'd rather have all this fixed now other then 30 years later when its almost too late. but my superamazing friends and art is really helping my focus off of the creepiness of the surgery so thank God for friends and art. i'll start putting up some photos of some recent artwork/sketches real soon.

today was the first day back to school. it was actually really great. i'm excited for all my art classes mostly AP, even though i won't have it until tomorrow. i don't feel really differnt in school being a senior this year. i mean don't think it doesn't run through my head 'the last year i'll walk through these overly crowded hallways, the last year to get a broken locker like every year, the last year i see all my friends everyday' it's refreshing yet depressing. what's even wierder is hearing all the underclassman get those speeches about how to make most of the time you have now, get good grades now it will look good. and thinking how i just sort of was like whatever screw division i'd rather doodle more. would have been nice to get some decent grades. i just hope my cousin realizes it faster then i did when he starts this year. but doodling has gotten me farther then i ever thought it could. like going to MICA this summer, never would trade that experiance for anything and i reccormend it for anyone eligible for it. like any of the juniors in AP this year, get that portfolio to MICA and if you have the month and money to spare go for it. but AP is gonna be great this year i'm so pumped to see everyones work done over the summer !

i miss MICA alot. i got alot out of one month, i really did. i learned soooo much and made so many friends who i miss terribly. it does feel good to be home though i missed my family and friends back here too alot. after all that rushing and exhaustion i missed artscape, i`m not too down though i heard i was great but that`s okay, i needed the rest. i met so really talented artists both high school students and college and graduates too. i ran into Hesser a few times too haha, which was nice cause i believe he saw my painting in progress when i was walking down mt.royal once and he visited in my Raku class and saw what i had been doing there too. i have a few pictures of some art work and pictures from the rest of the program. the art show friday night went great, everyone worked really hard and it showed.

today was my birthday, it was great. spectacular :D

lotssssss of stuff happend that was completely unexpected

but isn't that all birthdays ? so back to the art, been working on my self

portrait for the past week and it's due wednesday. oh great. artscape comming

up and everyone better be there ! can't wait to come home, love it here but i really

do miss home alot. sorry i haven't updated much i try when i have time. i really don't have

alot to say right now but i have a few pictures which i guess can do :)

So my TARCs are awesome and my roomates are still amazing as ever. From the roomate stories going around i am so glas my roomates are normal. classes started monday and i'm soooo tired ! Things are going great though and i'm learning alot. I've met lots of new friends and found a couple old ones too here. Art supplies are plentiful, considering i have to carry everything with me back and forth. Oil is great, no painting yet but we have done loads of drawing and sketching. Tomorrow we are going on a museam trip and Saturday we're going to DC. Well haven't taken many photos recently but the full first day on Sunday i took lots of pictures. i'll put some up :)

Well i'm missing being home but it helps i'm real close to home, since i know my way around here it makes me feel alot better. Gonna go, but i'll stay updated !

so first day yesterday at MICA. It's awesome here, it's really wierd living here but so far everything is great. My roomates are really nice, my TARC's are really nice, our group is good. We start doing everything like our classes, tomorrow. Today is some 'secret' project thing for our first class which is sorta like an all day class thing that everyone does. I got up at 545 this morning ! It wasn't like i forced myself though i just kinda did. Well orginally i was up at 5 but haha there was no way i was gonna get up that early yet. So yeah, everything is going good. I'm having lots of fun. I will have pictures soon. Just I don't know how soon. But there will be pictures ! Well I'm gonna get back later,now I should probably find someway else to get ready.
I don't have to be outta here until 745ish for breakfast, which i'm not even hungry.

Tortillas ?!

An artist, Joe Bravo, is well known for using tortillas as his canvas. I thought it was really awesome how he resourced. I saw him on the Early Show this morning and i had to do some research. He said on the show that he used tortillas because he couldn`t afford canvas. I really thought this was interesting.

I`ll be leaving for MICA Saturday morning to go unpack at the commons and get started. I`m really excited, although i`ve never been away from home for so long before but i`ve never been the one to get homesick, i guess i adapt well or something. Tomorrow is my last day at work for a long time, since i have other things going on too after MICA. I`m gonna miss work though, i love being able to paint displays and make signs/bouquets. Even though i normally don`t get homesick, i will miss being home though. But MICA is going to be so great ! I`ll take an oil class, ceramics, and art history class. We`ll have alot of trips too. We are going to New York the day before my birthday ! That will be awesome. While i`m posting i might as well put out there some Ami James stuff. I love Ami James' work. Before Gunnar, Ami was my all-time favorite, and well he still is just Gunnar is just as inspiring. The photos are some of Ami James' work. enjoy :D

Someone had mentioned Gunnar, a tattoo artist, to me and i love tattoo art so i had to take a look. His work is pretty awesome. I love his style and his ideas are raw. He lives in Southern California and also that's where he works at Tattoo Revolution by appointment only. Gunnar travels alot. Not only does he work with skin he paints too. I had to mention him, big inspiration to me right now. Heres some work of Gunnar's :

so today was my scholarship interview. i was so nervous just sitting there waiting for them to call me in to set up my artwork. it was kind of cool they had easles set up around the room and you could display your artwork however you wanted. when the judges first walked in i was really nervous. but they were really nice so it made it a little easier. they asked me about like what inspired certain pieces and what mediums i liked working with best. the one judge seemed more enthusiastic then the other. the one judge was smiling and had like wide eyes and was like taking in everything i said and the other was like very like distant yet setting up most of the questions. it was pretty cooli didn`t get any real feedback since they have to be general with everything to be fair. i did my best and brought my best though, and i just hope i get the scholarship ! advice for anyone who get`s this type of oppurtunity, relax, and know your the best you can be & don`t tense up. there`s some pretty nice kids that present too. i met a girl there that had some impressive artwork. one of her pieces was painted on a door, she said it was an assignment they had to do. it was pretty amazing.

So i leave for MICA for the pre college program in like 2 and a half weeks of so, i`m really excited i can`t wait for it ! i`ll be posting alot through out all that too. hey AP kids ! excited ?
i am. :) hope you guys keep up with me over the summer, i`ll be checking to see if any of you guys set up blogs too !
